The Renewal of Vows Ceremonies are wonderful occasions and they are especially good when they are a surprise to families and friends when they least expect it.
I will list below the basic elements of a Renewal of Vows ceremony.
- Welcome, Explanation of Ceremony and Introduction.
- Acknowledgements of special guests, for instance the original bridal party.
- Your Story, this is about your journey during your married life.
- Your relationship, what you love about each other, your feelings about your shared experiences and your hopes/plans for the future etc. You can include whatever you like:-
- Poems, readings, candle lighting ceremonies, religious/cultural elements, something entirely new and meaningful.
- Renew the Vows you made to each other at your first wedding or create new Vows.
- Exchange rings, either new ones or just touch the wedding rings you have?
- Declaration and Signing of the Renewal of Vows Certificate.
- Presentation of the Certificate and a Toast.
This list is provided as a basic guideline for you to use when planning your ceremony.
You can include or omit any of these elements as you wish.
You might have ideas for other elements of your ceremony.
The order of the Ceremony can be varied.
Civil ceremonies are basically non-religious, however if you wish to include some religious elements, this can certainly be included.
